Heavy rain damages crops in western Nepal
Farmers in Kailali, Bardiya, Salyan and Dang report losses to paddy, fruit and vegetables as local teams assess damage.
Heavy rain and strong winds have affected crops just before harvest in parts of western Nepal, The Kathmandu Post reported on October 9. In Kailali, agricultural officials warned that paddy output could fall; in Bardiya, local authorities reported damage to harvested and standing rice. The final losses are not yet known, and local assessments are continuing.
