Australian researchers train seals and sea lions for hearing tests
Researchers at Sydney’s Taronga Zoo trained two sea lions and two fur seals to respond to tones during hearing tests, Euronews reported on 9 October. The study found the animals were most sensitive to sounds around 3.2 kilohertz. Researchers hope the work will help assess how underwater noise affects marine mammals.
